This event is an informal powerlifting-style meet that will test the Press (yes, the overhead one!) & Deadlift. The objective is simple: lift as much as you can! You'll have 3 attempts at increasingly heavy loads for both lifts and you'll be cheered on by your fellow classmates. We promise this event will be FUN - not too serious :). You are eligible to lift as long as you've been a member with us for 8 weeks prior to the meet date. This is a really fun way to focus up on your training in the short term, especially when things tend to be “off” because of summer travel!

FAQs:

  • Can I bring my friends/family? We are keeping it in the family this time around, so AWBC members only please! Our new space has a reduced legal occupancy compared to our previous one; this means we need to be able to control the number of people at the gym. But we’ll have just as much fun I promise!

  • What is the schedule? Once the registration period is complete, all attendees will be sorted into two groups: one starting at 10a & one starting at 1p. Where possible we’ll try to group you with people you know but if you need to be in the morning or the afternoon time slot for scheduling reasons, just let us know!

  • Is this event just for advanced lifters? Nope, this event is just for fun I promise! There’s no pressure to be “best lifter” over here so you can approach the day however you want. If you want to set some training goals for yourself that you try to meet at this event, go for it! If you just want to come to have fun & see what’s there - PR or not - you’re welcome! There’s a reason people ask about the next meet all the time & it’s because everyone has a good time :)
